Alban Bagbin announces parliamentary support for Asante Kotoko's trip to USA for DC United clash

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has confirmed that Parliament will support Asante Kotoko’s upcoming match against DC United in the United States next month.

Bagbin has instructed his team to seek funding from corporate sponsors to assist the club with expenses related to the match, as reported by Joy Sports.

The Porcupine Warriors are set to face the Major League Soccer side on October 12, 2024, in the USA, as part of their prize for winning the inaugural Democracy Cup.

Speaker Bagbin shared this information during a review meeting with Primeval Media, the match organizers, last week.

He stressed that, as the initiators of the Democracy Cup, Parliament has a duty to ensure Kotoko's participation in the USA.

Bagbin also emphasized football's role as a powerful tool for national promotion and development.

He noted the historical significance of the match venue and suggested that it should be used to benefit both nations involved.
