CAF Champions League: Nurudeen Amadu excited after FC Samartex's progress to second round of prelims

FC Samartex 1996 head coach, Nurudeen Amadu, has expressed his excitement following his side's qualification to the next round of the CAF Champions League.

The reigning Ghana Premier League champions secured a 2-0 aggregate scoreline over Cameroonian side, Victoria United after a two-legged tie.

Samartex recorded a 1-0 win away before recording a hard-fought 1-0 win in the return game at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Speaking after the win on Sunday, Nurudeen expressed his happiness following the qualification.

“We are feeling good because this is our first time," he said.

"It would have been bad if after winning the first leg, we come here and we are out so it’s a good feeling to have progressed to the next stage," he added.

FC Samartex will take on Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca in the second round of the preliminary games with the first leg scheduled at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 13 with the second leg slated to take place on September 20.

Samartex are playing in the Champions League for the first time after winning the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League.
