The Ghana international suffered a suspected dislocated shoulder during the first half of Norwich's 4-0 loss at Selhurst Park. The injury occurred when Amankwah lost his footing while attempting to close down Will Hughes.

The seriousness of the injury was immediately apparent, with Amankwah needing oxygen and an injection on the pitch before being placed in a sling and taken to the hospital.

Norwich City manager Thorup initially expressed cautious optimism about Amankwah's condition in his post-match comments. "It looked a little bit better than expected when we saw him afterwards," Thorup said, stressing the importance of a thorough medical assessment.

Fortunately, further tests on Wednesday confirmed that surgery would not be required.

In a surprising turn of events, Amankwah is now set to resume training as early as Thursday or Friday. Depending on his progress, he may be available for selection in Saturday's match against Coventry City.

This swift recovery is a significant boost for Norwich, who are still searching for their first win in the Championship this season. Amankwah’s potential return could provide the team with the spark needed to kick-start their campaign.

The summer signing has made a promising start at Carrow Road, contributing two assists in five games.

It remains uncertain whether Forson Amankwah will be included in the Black Stars squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger in 2025.
