In-demand Eleven Wonders defender Kelvin Osei Assibey has named Spain legend Sergio Ramos as his role model.

Assibey, who is one of the most sought-after players in the Ghanaian transfer market in an interview revealed admiration for the former Real Madrid captain.

The 22-year-old started his career as a forward before he was converted into a defender at lower-tier Ghanaian club Ebony FC.

The Eleven Wonders captain had an initial admiration for Portugal legend Cristiano Ronaldo but opted for Ramos following a change in position.

“Cristiano Ronaldo was my idol while growing up as a footballer but the narrative changed when I joined Ebony FC. The coach at the club then converted me into a defender based on my aggressive style of play so I couldn’t mentor Ronaldo anymore and had to go in for a defender but I still love Ronaldo”

“Now, Sergio Ramos is my role model, I have been watching his videos and picking important lessons from his style of play” he said.

Assibey produced a swashbuckling performance in the Division One, scoring 2 goals and providing 7 assists in 25 games. He also scooped six man of the match awards at the end of the season.

The 22-year-old was instrumental for Eleven Wonders who came close to regaining Ghana Premier League promotion in the just ended season. The Techiman-based club miss out on Premier League promotion after defeat to Bofoakwa Tano in the play-off.
