Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia says he appreciates what the Black Stars are doing for the country following his visit to the team’s hotel on Monday in Kumasi.

The Black Stars are set to take on the Central African Republic in the fourth round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, scheduled for tonight at 19:00 GMT.

Accompanied by Minister of Youth and Sports Mustapha Ussif, Dr. Bawumia's visit follows the team's crucial 2-1 victory over Mali in their previous game.

The Ghana Football Association President, Kurt Okraku, praised the Vice President for supporting the Black Stars logistically during their trip from Mali.

In response, Dr. Bawumia expressed his delight at the team's victory in Mali and conveyed his utmost respect for the players' skills, dedication, and commitment to the country.

“We were so happy when you won in Mali. Let me say that I have the highest respect for what you do as footballers and what you do for this country.

“The skill level for you, the dedication, and the commitment that is required for you to get to this team…so when you get all the way to the Black Stars level, it takes something special and you are special.”
