Xavi, a fan of Al Sadd striker Baghdad Bounedjah has requested his signing for Barcelona, says reports from SPORT.
Bounedjah has carved himself a name for himself as a centre forward in Qatar. He's scored 11 goals in nine games this season, while also assisting three times.
Last season, he was the highest scorer in the Qatar Stars League, with 21 goals in 19 games.
There's no doubt that Xavi, who trained him for two years, will be able to bring out the best in him, but it's debatable if his best will be enough for Barcelona.
On the offensive side, the squad already has surpluses like Luuk and Philippe Coutinho, and acquiring Bounedjah would take up even more room. Furthermore, he is 29 years old and may not be able to match Barcelona's young setup toe to toe.
