Juventus continued their rise up the Serie A standings with a 2-0 win over Lazio on Saturday, with Leonardo Bonucci scoring twice from the penalty spot.

At the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Italy defender Bonucci slammed home nearly identical spot-kicks in both half to lift Juve to sixth place, level on points with fifth-placed Lazio.

After a 5-2 thrashing of Spezia earlier on Saturday, Massimiliano Allegri's side is now four points behind of the Champions League places, with Atalanta in fourth place.

With 22 minutes gone, Bonucci scored his second league goal of the season, blasting a shot past Pepe Reina after Danilo Cataldi was penalized for a stupid challenge on Alvaro Morata following a VAR check.

Juve's win was their first in Serie A by more than one goal this season, and they remain a long distance behind leaders Napoli and AC Milan, who will move top with a win or draw at Fiorentina later on Saturday.
