The head coach of the Black Stars, Chris Hughton wants to lead Ghana to glory at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

To see this dream come to life, the Irish-Ghanaian tactician has named a strong final 27-man squad for the continental showpiece.

The coach named his official squad for the 2023 AFCON at a press conference at the Alisa Hotel on Monday, January 1, 2024.

The surprise in the squad is that unfit Thomas Partey has been excluded and won’t be at the 2023 AFCON with Ghana.

Meanwhile, Coach Chris Hughton has named three Ghana Premier League players in his squad for the tournament.

They include Asante Kotoko midfielder Richmond Lamptey and Medeama SC duo Abdul Hamid Fatawu and Jonathan Sowah.

Mohammed Kudus leads the team as the poster boy with Andre Ayew earning a place in the team as captain.

Coach Chris Hughton and his squad will begin camping in Kumasi on Tuesday to begin preparations for the tournament.

The Black Stars as part of the preparations will play a friendly match against Namibia on Monday, January 8.
