Former Ghana coach, Avram Grant made his return to the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament on Wednesday, January 17, as he led Zambia to hold DR Congo to a goalless draw.

The last time the Israeli tactician was at the AFCON, he steered the Black Stars to the final, only losing to Ivory Coast on penalties.

In the game against DR Congo today, Coach Avram Grant set his team up strong to defend as his lads put on a battle to keep out the opponent.

The Group F contest played at Laurent Pokou Stadium saw two goals, with all equalisers coming in the first half.

Zambia against the run of play took the lead in the 23rd minute through Kings Kangwa after he was assisted by striker Patson Daka.

Just four minutes later, DR Congo who have been the dominant side responded with a tap-in strike from Yoane Wissa.

While DRC would continue to dominate the play in the second half, Zambia’s defense stood firm to force the match to end in a 1-1 draw.
