2023 Africa Cup of Nations: Ghana coach Chris Hughton expected to make changes to starting 11 for Egypt game

Published on: 17 January 2024

The head coach of the Black Stars of Ghana, Chris Hughton will be making changes to his starting eleven for the game against Egypt on Thursday, January 18.

This is according to information gathered from sources in Abidjan where the national team is based for the group stages of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Ivory Coast.

The Ghana coach played with a new-look starting eleven in the first game against Cape Verde in Group B.

In the starting eleven that was missing star man Mohammed Kudus and striker Inaki Williams, the Black Stars failed to impress and lost 2-1 at the end of the 90 minutes.

After training in the last couple of days, sources have reported that there will be changes made to the Ghana starting eleven for the Egypt game tomorrow.

It is expected that poster boy Mohammed Kudus will return to the starting eleven after shaking off his injury.

It is also likely that Alidu Seidu would come in to replace the experienced Denis Odoi at right-back.

Ghana in the game against Egypt on Thursday cannot afford to lose. Failing to pick at least a point will affect the Black Stars’ chances of making it to the knockout stage of the 2023 AFCON.

Tomorrow’s Group B showdown will kick off at 8 pm.
