The Black Stars of Ghana will open camp in Kumasi on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, to begin preparations for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

Ghana is one of the 24 countries that will be in Ivory Coast for the 2023 AFCON to compete for continental glory.

Ahead of the start of the tournament, Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton has named his official 27-man squad.

The surprise in the squad is that unfit Thomas Partey has been excluded and won’t be at the 2023 AFCON with Ghana.

Meanwhile, Coach Chris Hughton has named three Ghana Premier League players in his squad for the tournament.

They include Asante Kotoko midfielder Richmond Lamptey and Medeama SC duo Abdul Hamid Fatawu and Jonathan Sowah.

Mohammed Kudus leads the team as the poster boy with Andre Ayew earning a place in the team as captain.

Players will assemble in camp in Kumasi tomorrow to prepare for the 2023 AFCON.

Before heading to Ivory Coast, Ghana will play a friendly match with Namibia on Monday, January 8.

The 2023 AFCON kicks off on January 13 and will end on February 11.
