2023 Africa Cup of Nations: Ten-man Guinea hold Cameroon to a 1-1 draw in Group C

Guinea showed a lot of resilience on Monday evening to hold Cameroon to a draw in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

Following the start of the 34th edition of the AFCON on Saturday, it was the turn of Group C opponents to take centre stage today.

In a game between Cameroon and Guinea, both national teams put up a good fight in a bid to get something out of the game.

Despite being favoured to get a narrow win, Cameroon had a tough game and trailed after just 10 minutes into the first half.

Guinea attacker Mohamed Bayo showed composure under pressure to fire a low shot to open the scoring for his country after a scuffle in the Cameroon area.

While Guinea would continue to impress, a red card to captain François Kamano in the final minutes of the first half changed the equation.

Cameroon took advantage and pushed in the second half before eventually equalising through Frank Magri in the 51st minute.

Despite dominating the game, the Indomitable Lions could not find a second goal and were held to a 1-1 draw at the end of the entertaining contest at Stade de Yamoussoukro.
