England midfielder Kobbie Mainoo is optimistic that the Three Lions will do better in the knockout stage of the 2024 European Championship.
The Three Lions on Tuesday settled for a point after a goalless draw with Slovenia in their final Group C match of the tournament in Germany.
Speaking to ITV after the game, Kobbie Mainoo indicated that how Slovenia set up made it difficult for England.
He said England has the quality to break down teams that will also sit deep in the knockout stage.
“Slovenia sat deep and are a good side on the ball but I think we have the quality to break these teams down as the levels get higher the deeper we go into the tournament,” Kobbie Mainoo said.
Despite failing to win, both England and Slovenia are through to the knockout stage.
In Group C, Denmark also has made it to the knockout stage.
While many have described the group stage performance of England as unimpressive, Gareth Southgate's side must improve before the knockout stage of the Euros begins.
