Ghana coach Otto Addo has refused to disclose whether defender Jonas Adjei Adjetey will be involved when the Black Stars take on Angola on Thursday at the Baba Yara Stadium in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Adjetey, who plies his trade for Swiss outfit FC Basel earned a late call up to replace injured Alexander Djiku. This is his maiden invite to the national team.

Speaking ahead of the game, Otto Addo botched to confirm whether the towering defender will be handed a starting role against Angola or not.

“I don't know. I know if he's going to start or not, but surely you know that I can't give you the starting eleven now, not because like I don't like it or whatever, but I don't want to because everybody's watching them to know how they start so that is all I can say” he said.

Following this, the team will travel to Berkane, Morocco for their second Group F game against Niger on September 9.

Ghana are aiming to start the qualifiers on a good note as they seek to secure qualification to the CAF’s biggest competition on the continent.

The Black Stars cannot afford to drop points on home turf following Sudan’s opening day win over Niger.

Coach Kwesi Appiah led Sudan to beat Niger 1-0 and are currently on top of Group F.
