Ghana's head coach, Otto Addo, has clarified his approach to player selection ahead of the crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola.

Emphasizing that his focus is solely on selecting the best players, Addo dismissed the notion of favoring either local or foreign-based talents.

"For me it is never about local or non local it is about the best players but if we can find good players and that is why I said it before I want to really really try and watch as much local live matches as possible," he told Peace FM as monitored by Footballghana.com

"I can find one or two players because it is always very difficult for the videos now I have the possibility because I am not with Dortmund anymore.

"I will watch a lot of matches and if it is a possiblitly I will find someone where I think he is better than another player then why not,"

Addo recently announced his 23-man squad for the upcoming qualifiers, including just one domestic player, Asante Kotoko's goalkeeper Frederick Asare.

The team held their first training session at the Accra Sports Stadium before heading to Kumasi to continue preparations.

Ghana is set to face Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium on September 5 and will then travel to Morocco for a match against Niger on September 9, aiming to secure a spot in the AFCON tournament.
