Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante-Twum has explained why Jordan Ayew joined Black Stars camp late.

The 30-year-old joined the Eagles in the summer transfer window from Crystal Palace on a two-year deal.

Having been named in Black Stars' 23-man squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger, Ayew missed the team’s first two training sessions.

However, the former Aston Villa striker joined camp on Wednesday ahead of the games and trained on Wednesday afternoon.

Asante-Twum in an interview explained that Jordan Ayew requested to be given extra days to pack his stuff from Leicester to South London following his move to the former Premier League champions.

“Jordan Ayew joined Leicester City during the transfer window from Crystal Palace so he informed the technical team that he will need a day or two to move his belongings to his new place and the technical team agreed but we are grateful that he finally joined the team on Wednesday morning," he told Asempa FM as monitored by Footballghana.com.

The Black Stars will travel to play Niger in their second Group F game in Berkane on Monday, September 9 with Jordan Ayew expected to feature in all the games.
