2025 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers: Ghana coach Otto Addo draws positives from defeat against Angola

Ghana coach Otto Addo has picked a lot of positives despite defeat to Angola in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Black Stars succumbed to a 1-0 defeat at the Baba Yara Stadium on Thursday evening, courtesy Felício Milson’s injury time goal.

Milson capitalized on Mumin’s error to fire home the winning goal in stoppage time for the Palancas Negras.

The loss at Baba Yara Stadium broke a remarkable 25-year unbeaten streak for the Black Stars in the Ashanti Regional capital, a venue where they had not lost since February 2000.

“The second half makes me very confident. The good thing is that it's all still in our own hands. We play against all the other teams in our group and it's all in our hands”

“We will not depend on anybody to qualify, at the moment and this is the good thing, this is a positive thing and I guess like it has been said there's a lot of positive things to be taken out of the second half but surely at least we should draw this game and we have to learn to be more clinical, to make earlier shots and to be a little bit more egoistic it's a thin line because I don't want them to be too egoistic. But we have to get out of this and we will discuss the game tomorrow morning. I will show them a lot”

The Black Stars will travel to face Niger in their second group game at Berkane, Morocco on Monday, September 9, 2024.

Ghana are currently third in group F following defeat in their opening game of the qualifiers.
