Captain Thomas Partey has expressed his willingness to help his Black Stars teammates.

The Arsenal midfielder has led the side as the new skipper for the team following the return of Otto Addo as the new head coach of the Black Stars.

Speaking in an interview with SuperSport ahead of the Black Stars’ opener in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium later tonight, the 30-year-old assured his teammates that he is ready and willing to help his teammates.

According to him, he wants his teammates to feel free around and see him as one of their own and not as the captain of the team.

“Well, I will say I am somebody who is always ready to help and also support whenever I can and give them the opportunity to show what they have because there are a lot of talents in here and when you try to be above them, it will be really difficult for them to show their talent and for me, I am free and everybody feels free around me and I am really happy for them not just to see me as a captain but to see me as one of them that whenever they need me, I will be there to help them and also to give my best to the country,” he said.

Kick-off for the Angola game is scheduled at 16:00GMT. After this, the Black Stars will come up against Niger in their second Group F game on Monday, September 9 in Berkane.
