Black Stars winger Joseph Paintsil has withdrawn from Ghana’s squad ahead of their crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Niger in Morocco.

Paintsil was unable to travel with the Black Stars to Morocco after encountering passport issues, forcing him to miss the important match scheduled for Monday.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) confirmed Paintsil’s withdrawal in a statement, stating, "Twenty three players made the trip after Joseph Painstil pulled out due to Passport issues. The Los Angeles Galaxy forward has been left in Accra to sort out his passport issues before returning to the United States to join his club."

Paintsil, came on in the 82nd minute to replace Auxerre midfielder Elisha Owusu in Ghana’s 1-0 defeat to Angola in Kumasi last Thursday.

The Black Stars will aim to bounce back from the defeat as they face Niger’s Menas in the second round of the AFCON qualifiers at the RS Berkane Stadium.
