Despite succumbing to defeat against Angola in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, Ghana coach Otto Addo believes his outfit possesses a lot of quality.
The Black Stars succumbed to a narrow defeat at the Baba Yara Stadium on Thursday evening, courtesy Milson’s injury time goal.
The loss at Baba Yara Stadium broke a remarkable 25-year unbeaten streak for the Black Stars in the Ashanti Regional capital, a venue where they had not lost since February 2000.
Speaking to the media after the game, Otto Addo emphasized quality in the Black Stars team despite the defeat.
“No, because the quality is there. I think even though we lost I saw that the quality is there, Mumin was unlucky that he couldn't clear the ball at the end but he made some mistakes before so it's not only him”
“The grass is also not that good but besides that he made a really, really good game and sent a lot of good balls in between the line, won a lot of duels so you know they're young boys and I know they will develop and surely we will have to learn all of this to be more clinical and at least to get a point at least out of this match” he said.
The Black Stars will travel to face Niger in their second group game at Berkane, Morocco on Monday, September 9, 2024.
Ghana are currently third in group F following defeat in their opening game of the qualifiers.
