Black Stars skipper, Thomas Partey is anticipating tough games against Angola and Niger in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Ghana, who are four times African champions of the AFCON will officially open their qualifying series with a game against the Palancras Negras later tonight at the Baba Yara Stadium before travelling to play Niger in their second Group F game in Berkane on Monday, September 9.

Ahead of the games, Partey says they will see themselves as favourite but would show their quality and compete to win as they aim to secure qualification for the tournament which is scheduled to be hosted in Morocco next year.

“I think it will be difficult games but we have a good team. I have not watched our opponents but we have played against them and we know how difficult it is to play in Africa,” the 30-year-old told SuperSport

“I think we don’t have to be favourite but rather go out and show our quality and do our best and try to win because all we need is to qualify and if we don’t win, we don’t get to qualify so we have to go all out and win,” he added.

The Ghana v Angola is scheduled at 16:00GMT.
