2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers: Ghana to host Central African Republic game at Baba Yara

Published on: 14 May 2024

The upcoming match between Ghana and the Central African Republic in the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

This has been confirmed by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

“Ghana will battle Central African Republic at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Monday, June 10, 2024, at 19.00 Hrs,” the Ghana FA said in a statement on Tuesday, May 14.

This comes to allay fears that Ghana may be forced to host the match outside the country.

Last month, it was reported that a CAF inspection team was not impressed upon visiting the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

As a result, Ghana was asked to address some issues at the stadium or risk losing approval to use the venue for CAF international matches.

Following the notice by the Ghana FA today, it appears all issues raised have been addressed.

The match between Ghana and Central African Republic will hence be played in Kumasi at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
