Kwabena Yeboah, the President of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), anticipates a formidable challenge for Ghana in their upcoming World Cup qualifier against Mali tonight.

With the Black Stars currently positioned in fifth place in Group I after two matches, a victory against Mali is crucial to elevate their standing in the table.

Yeboah expressed his thoughts, stating, “This is a team in transition, and it is going to be very tough. As soon as the draw was made, every Ghanaian knew that Mali were the favourites in this group, but it is turning out to be a very different scenario."

He highlighted the unexpected strength of Comoros, who defeated Ghana 1-0 in the first leg, emphasizing the formidable reputation of Mali as a highly talented team.

“Not many gave Comoros a chance but they have proven that they can top the group, I mean they beat us 1-0 in the first leg.

Yeboah acknowledged Ghana's status as underdogs, considering their transition phase and the loss of experienced players.

“And everyone knows the pedigree of Mali, a very very talented team so I must say for me enter the game as the underdogs no disrespect to the team and as a team in transition, who have lost a number of seasoned materials, so speaking from a professional perspective then I will say it is going to be a tough game,” Kwabena Yeboah added.

The match between Ghana and Mali at the Stade du 26 Mars stadium is scheduled to commence at 19:00 GMT.

Following this encounter, Ghana will host the Central African Republic in their matchday four fixture at the Baba Yara Stadium on June 10th.
