2026 World Cup Qualifiers: My versatility is a positive thing for Ghana – Mohammed Kudus

Published on: 10 June 2024

Ghana international Mohammed Kudus says being able to play in several positions has a positive impact on the Black Stars team.

Kudus was mostly deployed as a winger in his first season with West Ham United and made a good account of himself, scoring some important goals for the club.

The former Ajax star racked up 14 goals across competitions for the English Premier League outfit.

He was deployed behind the striker, Antoine Semenyo in the match against Mali last Thursday, where Ghana prevailed with a 2-1 away win.

Despite failing to live up to expectation in the game, Kudus insists his versatility is a good things for coach Otto Addo and the Black Stars team at large.

“I am a player with the versatility to play in different positions so definitely I see that as a positive thing for the Coach. Whichever position I find myself I will do my best for the team. But my best position is the attacking midfield, which is the position the Coach is using me here so there is no excuse not to perform. I will do my best in every game” he said.

Ghana will play host to Central Africa Republic in matchday four of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers at the Baba Yara Stadium on Monday night.

Currently, the Black Stars are positioned third in their group with 6 points, holding a two-point lead over the Central African Republic, who are currently in fifth place with 4 points.
