Black Stars coach, Otto Addo, has emphasized the need for his side to beat Mali if they want to secure qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The four-time African champions find themselves fifth on the table in Group I following the Central African Republic's win over Chad earlier on Wednesday night.

The Black Stars will play against the Eagles in Bamako later tonight matchday three games of the qualifying series knowing a win could take them to at least second in the group ahead of facing CAR next Monday at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Ahead of the game at the Stade du 26 Mars, Addo has called on his side to take home the maximum points.

"It's a very important match for us. We are one point behind Mali and we have to win to give us a chance of qualifying for the World Cup," the 43-year-old said.

"Mali are a very strong team. They have young talent in their team and it will be a tough game for us," he added.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 19:00 GMT.
