Ajax's bold stance in Ghanaian youngster Gabriel Misehouy contract negotiations: Take it or leave it

Ajax has taken a firm stance in the ongoing contract negotiations with Dutch-born Ghanaian youngster, Gabriel Osei Misehouy, as per a report from Mike Verweij of De Telegraaf.

The discussions have been primarily centered around financial aspects and assurances of playing time.

This week, it was revealed that Misehouy is likely to part ways with Ajax, with his current contract nearing its end and no extension in sight. Moreover, he has been excluded from the first team's training sessions.

Initially, Ajax held high expectations that Misehouy would re-sign, despite the interest shown by Manchester City and Girona.

“At one point Ajax had high hopes that Misehouy would sign, despite interest from Manchester City and Girona. Internally, Ajax said that they could not sign Babadi, because that would immediately hinder Misehouy's development. In fact, Babadi's name had been crossed out in pencil, until Misehouy started behaving strangely,” says Mike Verweij in the De Telegraaf podcast Kick-Off.

“Misehouy not only demanded playing minutes at Ajax, but also in the big matches. He has now gone to another agent. You can see from Ajax's reaction that there is finally leadership at the club again. They say: boy, we are making you a very good contract offer for three years, you have to decide now, we will not allow you to wait until May. Swallow or choke. And that boy chooses to play somewhere else.

“Fan sites write that he does not want to leave, but he wanted to stretch it out as long as possible to be able to compare all the offers. Now Ajax has locked the door. Ajax no longer lets him train with the first team, that's it. So Babadi is back in the picture, but he demands a considerable sum of signing fees.

“What Ajax has also done wrong in the past is handing out contracts worth seven to eight euros to talents. Misehouy has a good friend at Ajax who has signed such a contract. Ajax no longer does that. He expects more money and Ajax is not going to pay him that. But Ajax has made him an excellent offer, I heard,”
