Anderlecht chief Jesper Fredberg says his outfit is currently looking at the situation of Ghana midfielder Majeed Ashimeru, twelve months to the expiration of his contract.

The Black Stars midfielder current contract at the Lotto Park will expire in the summer of 2025.

Ashimeru was limited to just six appearances in the just ended Belgian Jupiler Pro League campaign due to persistent injuries.

In all competitions, the former WAFA star managed 15 appearances for Anderlecht without registering a goal or assists across the period.

Speaking to club’s website, Jesper Fredberg acknowledged the qualities of the Ghanaian midfielder, saying his outfit are looking at the situation of the player.

"He has something that few players have. He plays football directly and vertically. Unfortunately, he is out of action too often. His contract expires at the end of next season and we are looking at his situation." He said.

Ashimeru missed out on the Black Stars squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifying games against Mali and Central Africa Republic due to injury.

Ghana are aiming for positive results in the upcoming games following a sloppy start to the qualifiers. The Black Stars commenced the qualifiers with a win and a defeat against Madagascar and Comoros respectively.
