Asante Kotoko new recruit Emmanuel Antwi reacts after winning first silverware with club

Asante Kotoko new signing Emmanuel Antwi has shared his excitement after helping the club to annex the Democracy Cup at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Antwi, who recently joined the Porcupine Warriors starred in midfield as his outfit cruised to a 2-1 win to clinch the inaugural title. The game was held to celebrate 30 years of parliamentary democracy in Ghana.

"Democracy Cup won. Thank you for the love and support," he posted on his X account after the match.

The visitors took the lead after 30 minutes into the game through Justice Blay, who scored from the spot. They went to the halftime break with the advantage.

Hearts of Oak equalized after the break with a header from new signing Asamoah Boateng Afriyie before Kotoko found the back of the net again to regained the lead when Peter Amidu capitalized on a defensive error by Hearts of Oak to secure a 2-1 victory for the Kumasi-based side.

Kotoko’s success in the inaugural Democracy has secured the team a ticket to the United States to face Major League Soccer side DC United at a date to be announced by the organizers.
