Black Queens Coach unhappy about draw with Nigeria

Head Coach of the Black Queens Yussif Basigi claims his team could have beaten Nigeria in their second Group B encounter of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations match played on Wednesday in Limbe.

Ghana who got off to a flying start in their opening group game after a 3-1 win over Kenya, looked confident and well composed in today’s game against the nine time Champions Nigeria.

Nigeria had a great start and they got into the lead in the 19th minute when Cynthia Adobia turned Asisat Oshoala’s shot into her own net.

Ghana however equalized from the spot five minutes to the break through skipper Elizabeth Addo, who was fouled by Halimat Ayinde in the vital area.

Despite their resolute play, the Black Queens failed to pounce on good chances created in the game to Coach Basigi’s dismay.

“We are not happy to draw, but it is good to draw when the need arises.”

“Ghana versus Nigeria can go either way. If for any reason we draw, we have to take it in good faith.” Coach Basigi said.

Ghana play Mali in their final match on Saturday in Yaounde and they will be hoping to win by a convincing margin as they are currently second in group B with an inferior goal difference behind Nigeria.
