Black Queens to know African Womens Championship Group opponents on Sunday

Ghana’s senior female national team, the Black Queens will know their opponents for this year’s African Women’s Championship group phase on Sunday.

The official draw of the 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations-CAMEROON 2016 will be held at the At Palais Polyvalent des Sports, Yaounde, 18th September 2016 at 4:00 pm.

Ghana and South Africa will be seeded in a 2nd level in Pot 1 for having the best results in the last three editions of Women’s AFCON. (South Africa qualified for the last three editions whilst Ghana qualified for the 2014 & 2010 final tournaments. Both teams had the best results)

Draw Procedure

A1 is the host country: CAMEROON

B1 is the winner of the previous tournament: NIGERIA

GHANA & SOUTH AFRICA will be seeded in a 2nd level in Pot 1 for having the best results in the last three editions of Women’s AFCON. (South Africa qualified for the last three editions whilst Ghana qualified for the 2014 & 2010 final tournaments. Both teams had the best results)

Only the results of the Women’s AFCON are taken into consideration in the seeding.

The four remaining teams (Egypt-Kenya –Mali- Zimbabwe) are all seeded in a 3rd level in Pot containing 4 balls. First ball drawn from the 1st Pot will go to Group A and a draw will be done to determine its position (A2, A3, A4) from Pot 3; then the second ball will be in Group B and a draw will be done to determine its position (B2, B3, B4) from Pot 4.

For the four remaining teams in Pot 2, the ball drawn first will be in Group A and a draw will be done to determine its position (A2, A3, A4) from the third pot and the ball drawn the second will be in Group B and a draw will be done to determine its position (B2, B3, B4) from the fourth pot.
