FIFA referee Juliet Appiah has broken her silence after officiating her first Hearts of Oak-Asante Kotoko game in the country.

Appiah received a lot of backlash from the fans of both teams as they believe she didn’t lived up to expectations.

But in an interview with Kessben FM, as followed by Footballghana.com, Appiah expressed delight about her performance, revealing officials of Hearts of Oak applauded her for such top performance.

“When a football team loses a game, the loser always complains. However, after the game, Hearts of Oak officials applauded me for such an excellent officiating. I have not received any bad comment since officiating the game. Anyone who called applauded me for handling a game of such magnitude. You know Kotoko and Hearts of Oak games are not supposed to be played at night, so for me to handle the game without any bad incident tells you I did well” she said.

The Porcupine Warriors cruised to a 2-1 win to clinch the inaugural Democracy Cup at the Accra Sports Stadium on July 17, 2024. The game was held to celebrate 30 years of parliamentary democracy in Ghana.

Goal from Justice Blay and Peter Amidu were enough for the Porcupine Warriors to snatch their third consecutive win over the Phobians.

Kotoko’s success in the inaugural Democracy has secured the team a ticket to the United States to face Major League Soccer side DC United at a date to be announced by the organizers.
