Former Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu believes the handlers of the Ghana Football Association must educate players abroad about the African terrain before calling them up to the national team.

He believes that when players are surprised by the various issues affecting football in Ghana, they lose interest after a few games.

Badu’s comments stem from the Confederation of African Football’s decision to ban the Baba Yara Sports Stadium from hosting Category Three games.

“Unfortunately for us, the boys we bring to the team don’t know about the terrain we are operating in,” he told Asempa FM, as monitored by footballghana.com.

“When we are going for them, we should tell them, ‘Gentlemen, our pitches are not in good condition. This is what our people want. Will you be able to adapt to it?’”

“The pitches, since the time of Reverend Osei Kofi, have been the same. I won’t limit the problems to just coaching.”

These issues have arisen after Ghana failed to win in their opening two 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Black Stars lost 1-0 to Angola at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in their first qualifying game last week before drawing 1-1 against Niger in the second game.
