Ghanaian winger Emmanuel Boateng proved to be the hero for the New England Revolution in their Major League Soccer (MLS) clash against the New York Red Bulls.

Boateng's 81st-minute goal was the difference maker in a tightly contested match that ended 1-0 in favor of the Revolution.

The teams came into the game with a head-to-head record that slightly favored the Red Bulls, who had 18 wins to the Revolution's 12, with 7 draws between them. However, it was the Revolution who asserted their dominance on the day, despite the Red Bulls having more shots on goal.

Boateng's introduction in the 69th minute for Ian Harkes at the Gillette Stadium added a spark to the Revolution's attack. The 30-year-old, who has made 10 appearances in the 2024 MLS, scored his first goal of the season in spectacular fashion. A brilliant cross from Carles Gil found Boateng in the center of the box, and his left-footed shot found the back of the net, securing a vital three points for the Revolution.
