Former Ghanaian football star Edward Agyemang Duah, affectionately known as 'Rambo', has made an impassioned plea to football authorities to support former players who are now ailing.
Duah, who has been battling a stroke for 13 years, expressed his struggles and called for assistance for other players in similar situations.
The ex-defender, who played for prominent clubs including Accra Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko, and the national team, Black Stars, opened up about his challenges on the Ernest Brew Smith Show on YouTube. He highlighted the financial burden of medical check-ups and the impact on his living conditions.
"I thank God for still being alive but Ghana our leaders we plead with them the players who are sick and are still here stroke first people said that it was a sickness for the rich people it is not easy if you don't have money," he said.
"13 years (of suffering from a stroke) last month June was 13 years when I say it people become surprised if you are not feeling well and you get support to go to check-ups and everyday drop in it will drain you more.
"It get to a point rent if you are there and somebody says Rambo you have helped the nation so come and take this house and live in it with your family my heart will be happy,"
