The Black Queens of Ghana are set to face their female counterparts from Germany in an international friendly on July 22, 2016 in Paderborn.

The Black Queens who are ranked 42nd in the world by FIFA will face off with the 2nd best female team in the world Germany as part of preparations for the 2016 Africa Women’s Championship in Cameroon later this year.

This will be the first time the Queens are entering such a high profiled friendly match and Coach Yusif Basigi will be elated to use this game to trim the rough edges of his team who were named as the best National team of the year at the 41st SWAG Awards night.

The Die Nationalelf of Germany decided to play Ghana as part of their preparations for the RIO 2016 Olympic games which Ghana failed to qualify for.

“Ghana were our first-choice opponents because we desperately wanted to test ourselves against an African team to round up our preparation for the Olympics. Their style of play is very similar to our first opposition at the Games, Zimbabwe. We will contest the match using our entire 18-player Olympic squad,”general manager Doris Fitschen stated.

The last time Ghana played a friendly game against the Germans in their home country was in 1993 when the Black Stars were humiliated 6-1 in Bochum.
