Lars Veldwijk, the once-promising Bafana Bafana striker, has found a new home with Thailand's first-tier club BG Pathum United.
The 32-year-old had been without a team since his three-year contract with Suwon FC ended in September 2023, followed by a brief and unproductive spell with Spanish third-tier side Castellón.
Veldwijk's international career has been relatively underwhelming, having been called up to the South African national team in 2016 but only managing seven appearances. He was part of Stuart Baxter's squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, but his contribution was limited to a single substitute appearance. Despite his international experience, Veldwijk has yet to score a goal for Bafana Bafana.
Last season, Veldwijk struggled to make an impact at Castellón, starting only six games and failing to score. His sole contribution was a single assist. With his move to BG Pathum United, the striker hopes to rediscover his form and make a significant impact in Thailand's top-tier league.
