The Black Stars of Ghana have arrived in Nashville, Tennessee ahead of the international friendly against the United States of America.

Ghana will lock horns with the US at the GEODIS Park as part of preparation for both 2026 World Cup qualifiers and the 2023 Nations Cup to be staged in Ivory Coast early next year.

The West African powerhouse departed Charlotte to Tennessee on Sunday after engaging Mexico at the Bank of America Stadium – Charlotte

Unfortunately, the West African powerhouse succumbed to a 2-0 defeat to the North American country, courtesy goals from Hirving Lozano and Uriel Antuna.

The first half of the game ended in a pulsating goalless draw, as both teams failed to hit the back of the net.

In a spirited performance, Mexico secured victory over the Black Stars. PSV Eidhoven attacker Lozano shot his side into the lead in the 57th minute mark before substitute Uriel Antuna sealed victory in the 72nd minute.

It was Chris Hughton’s first defeat since taking over the national team in February. Before this defeat, Hughton had led the team to three wins and two draws.

The team will hope to make amends when they face the Yankees on Tuesday in Nashville.

Defender Joseph Aidoo has been ruled out of the much-anticipated clash after picking up what appears to be serious injury against Mexico.

Meanwhile, Medeama defender Abdul Fatawu Hamidu has rejoined the Black Stars camp. Hamidu was the only local player to have the make the Black Stars squad for friendlies against Mexico and the USA.

But the defender missed the game against the EL Tri of Mexico due to his involvement in the Capital City Cup game between Medeama and DC United.
