Going to camp early will be key to Ghana’s success at 2023 AFCON – Odartey Lamptey

Former Ghana forward, Odartey Lamptey has argued that the Black Stars need to go to camp early before the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

Because the 2023/24 football season is still ongoing, national teams won’t have most of their players until a couple of weeks before the start of the tournament.

Speaking to Sienu TV, Odartey Lamptey who is now a coach said if the Black Stars can go to camp early, it will help the national team to do well at the 2023 AFCON.

“I’ve followed the team quite a bit. I think the coach has assembled young materials with a couple of experienced players. If they are able to go to camp early it will help,” Odartey Lamptey said.

Meanwhile, the owner of Glow Lamp Academy is confident that Ghana has good players to pull a surprise at the 2023 AFCON.

“I think from what I’ve seen we have a good team with an experienced coach. He’s part of the team that went to the World Cup so he knows the team very well. I’m sure with the support of the FA and all Ghanaians I’m sure we will cause a surprise. People are doubting but I think we will cause a surprise at the AFCON,” Odartey Lamptey said.

The Black Stars will assemble for pre-tournament camping in South Africa on January 31.

The Black Stars will be in the country for 10 days before travelling to Ivory Coast to await the start of the 2023 AFCON on January 13.
