Hearts of Oak's captain and defender, Kofi Agbesimah, has revealed why he is leaving the club despite having one year remaining on his initial two-year deal.

The 27-year-old, who joined Hearts of Oak from Bechem United last summer, has cited undisclosed issues within the club as the reason for his dissatisfaction.

Agbesimah's decision comes after a standout season in which he played a crucial role for the team, featuring in 30 league matches and scoring one goal during the 2023/24 campaign. His leadership and experience have been invaluable to Hearts of Oak, making his potential departure a significant setback for the team.

"I'm not happy at Hearts of Oak. I want to leave. When Hearts signed me, If you look at how they hyped me and all that, I wanted to do something that would have made them very happy," Agbesimah told Kessben Sports.

"But in football, certain things can happen which is very common in football, so that's why I want to leave," he added.
