Hearts of Oak defender Michael Awuah Mensah has expressed his confidence that the Accra-based club will return to its former glory in the upcoming 2024/25 season.

Michael Awuah Mensah, who recently joined the Phobians on a three-year deal following an impressive stint with Nations FC, shared his expectations with Hearts of Oak media upon his return to the club's camp.

"This season, we are praying for God's favor and luck to approach every game with the same intensity," Mensah said. "We won't behave differently depending on the opponent. It's match after match, and we expect Accra Hearts of Oak to be back to its glory days."

Mensah's optimism comes after a disappointing 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season, where the Phobians finished in 14th place with 45 points from 34 games.

The highly-rated centre-back is expected to play a significant role in the team's revival this season. He has already featured in Hearts of Oak's off-season Democracy Cup match against rivals Asante Kotoko.
