Hearts of Oak need to beef up their midfield and attack - Former Board Member Frank Nelson

Former Board Member of Hearts of Oak, Frank Nelson Nwokolo, has stressed the urgency of reinforcing the club's playing squad following a disappointing 2023-2024 Ghana Premier League season.

The Phobians finished in 14th place out of 18 teams, a drop from their 12th place finish in the previous season.

In an interview with Channel One Sports, Nwokolo assessed the challenging season, noting the team's struggle to avoid relegation, culminating in a crucial 3-2 victory over Bechem United on the final day to secure their league status.

Highlighting his concerns, Nwokolo emphasized the need to strengthen the team, particularly in midfield and striking positions. He pointed out the striking department's shortcomings, citing numerous missed opportunities.

“I believe that the team needs strengthening especially in the midfield and striking positions. I don’t think our striking position was something to write home about because if you count the number of chances the strikers missed.

"I play it as a collective situation. I think our striker’s situation is not good because we missed a lot of chances.”
