I could have handled my resignation as Black Starlets coach better – Laryea Kingston

Former Ghana international Laryea Kingston has expressed remorse in how he handled his resignation as Black Starlets head coach.

The 43-year-old has released a statement apologizing for the manner in which he communicated his resignation and admitted that he could have handled things better.

“To the President and the EXCO, I also want to unreservedly and sincerely apologize for any misunderstanding, inconvenience and embarrassment my decision to announce resignation last Saturday caused,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.

“After careful consideration, I could have handled things better and this will be guiding experience for me going forward.”

The team failed to reach the final after losing 2-1 to Burkina Faso on Saturday in the semifinal at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

Laryea Kingston subsequently announced he has resigned as head coach of the team at his post-match press conference.

The Ghana Football Association had released a statement accepting his resignation and putting his deputies in charge of the team ahead of today’s must win third place playoff game against Nigeria.
