I understand what qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup means to Ghanaians – Otto Addo

Ghana head coach Otto Addo has revealed that he understands what qualifying for the 2026 World Cup means to Ghanaians.

He said this ahead of their game against the Central African Republic on Monday night in their fourth Group I qualifying game of the Mexico, Canada, and USA tournament.

Many Ghanaians are dreaming using the opportunity of the Black Stars qualifying for the tournament to travel to the three countries, especially the US and Canada and find working opportunities.

When asked if the team is aware of these, Otto Addo said, “Ghanaians should know that there are a lot of job opportunities in Qatar as well. Surely we want to qualify and go to the World Cup.

“Other countries want to qualify too but our players understand this (the socio-economic significance of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup) and they're fighting for their spots.

“Sometimes it gets so competitive we have to calm them down in training.”

Ghana currently sits third in Group I behind Madagascar and Comoros. The Black Stars are behind on goal difference as all three teams have six points.
