Former Ghana Sports Minister, Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye has indicated that he has been impressed with the recent performance of the Black Stars.
Speaking to Joy Sports, he said he is confident the Black Stars can qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“So far I think I’m much more impressed. It’s possible. We can qualify for the World Cup,” Nii Lante Vanderpuye said.
Ghana in the past week played two games in the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
First, the Black Stars went to Mali to secure a hard-fought 2-1 win before returning to Ghana to host the Central African Republic.
In that game played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Ghana recorded a 4-3 win.
Following the two victories, Ghana has climbed to second in Group I of the African qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana is on 9 points, the same as Comoros in first place.
