Dutch-born Ghanaian defender Jeremie Frimpong's place in Bayer Leverkusen's starting lineup remains uncertain ahead of their 3rd Bundesliga matchday against TSG Hoffenheim.

Frimpong, usually a regular when fit, left the Ghana national team early due to a family bereavement and only returned to Leverkusen on Friday. With the match scheduled for Saturday, the former Celtic star has just one training session to prove his readiness.

Meanwhile, his competitors for the right-wing spot, Nathan Tella and Arthur, remained in Leverkusen during the international break, giving them an edge in preparation. Leverkusen head coach Xabi Alonso commented on the situation, stating, "I haven't decided yet. I want to wait for the last training session. I already have an idea, but there are a few positions we still need to discuss."

Given Frimpong's late return, Tella and Arthur seem more likely to start, but the final decision will come down to Alonso's assessment after the last training session.

Jeremie Frimpong has made two appearances and scored one goal in the Bundesliga this season.
