Former Nigerian international John Obi Mikel has cast his vote of confidence in Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, predicting the Napoli forward to emerge as the standout player of the tournament.
Mikel, an experienced figure in Nigerian football and a former captain of the Super Eagles, not only voiced his support for Osimhen but went a step further, providing invaluable advice to the striker. As the curtains rose on the Super Eagles' training camp on January 2, 2024, anticipation swirled around Osimhen's imminent arrival, scheduled for Thursday, January 4, 2024.
“If I have to choose the Player of the Tournament, it will be Osimhen. He's on fire. He looks a bit like Didier Drogba, with a few similarities here and there," Mikel Obi told CNN.
"He scores goals, he gives you goals, he supports the game, he is a strong and energetic striker,” he added.
