Ghana defender Mohammed Salisu says the Black Stars know the game against Mali is very important for Ghanaians.

The Black Stars touched down in Bamako on Tuesday night ahead of the third round 2026 World Cup qualifier.

The team is looking to bounce back from the Comoros defeat that has left them fourth in Group I with three points from two games.

The team needs to win the game against the Eagles in Mali before facing the Central African Republic in Kumasi four days later in another must win game.

Speaking after their first training session in Kumasi, Salisu acknowledged the kind of importance Ghanaians attach to the tournament.

“I think this game is very important for every Ghanaian. It's a World Cup qualifier, so we know how it's important for Ghanaians. So we have good players, good young players.

“I think we can do it better. We know it's not going to be easy. And Mali has a strong team. I think we need to prepare. And hopefully we will win the game.”
