Midfielder Akwasi Sarpong has explained why he rejected offers from other clubs to join Ghana Premier League champions, Samartex in the ongoing transfer window.

The 20-year-old penned a three-year deal to join the Timber giants ahead of the 2024/25 football campaign.

Sarpong joined Samartex from Division One League outfit Skyy FC following an impressive performance in the lower-tier.

Explaining why he joined Samartex at the expense of other clubs, he said, “Its sheer bliss to join the Timber Giants family as a youngster, looking at what the club stands for. A lot of clubs were after me but the project of FC Samartex endeared me to join.”

Sarpong will be a great addition to the Samartex team as they prepare for their maiden CAF Champions League campaign and Ghana Premier League title defense.

Meanwhile, FC Samartex are currently having their preseason at Safari Valley in the Eastern Region as they gear up for the upcoming campaign.

They have been paired with Cameroonian side, Victoria United FC in the preliminary round of the competition.
