Congolese midfielder Glid Otanga says it was very difficult to leave Hearts of Oak after switching to join Qatari side Al Kharaitiyat SC.

The Phobians announced the transfer of the highly-rated midfielder to the Qatari club this week, ending his stint with the Ghanaian powerhouse.

And according to the Congolese, deciding to leave the Ghanaian giants this window was not easy for him.

“In life, sometimes you need to make choices that will help you grow as individual. The choice to leave Hearts of Oak was not easy for me”

“Hearts of Oak is a very good team. I was good at the club and had good friends. You know the players were like family but as I said, in life you have to do the choice sometimes. You need to think about your future and also about your family, I hope you understand” he said in an audio aired on Wontumi FM, as followed by Footballghana.com.

Otanga impressed since joining the Phobians in 2022, playing a pivotal role in helping the club win the Ghanaian FA Cup.

He emerged as a transfer target for several clubs following his outstanding performance but the Congolese opted to join the Qatari club.

He will be a valuable addition to the Al Kharaitiyat SC squad as they aim to make impact in the new season.

Prior to his time in Ghana, Otanga gained valuable experience playing for Akonangui FC in Equatorial Guinea and Coton Sport FC de Garoua in Cameroon.

His journey through various African leagues has equipped him with a diverse skill set and a strong understanding of the game, making him a valuable player for any team.
