Mikel Arteta responds to Atletico Madrid's anger on Partey transfer

Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta, has stated that Arsenal's dealings with regards to Partey were 'completely legal' and that Atletico Madrid should respect it.

On deadline day of the summer transfer window, Arsenal triggered the 50 million euro release clause of Thomas Partey, completing a deadline day madness.

According to reports, Atletico Madrid were angry about the transfer because Arsenal did not inform them beforehand.

In Spain, a club can trigger a release clause of a player by paying it straight to La Liga office.

"While the market is open it’s completely legal to do it."

"We have had some communication with them prior to that as well so hopefully they can respect that action."

"When it’s up to the last minutes it’s always a risk."

"A lot of things have to happen at the same time. It was a challenge to do it in 24 hours but I’m really happy because at the end we managed it."
